“I have been a member of the Darke County Photo Club since January, 2008. It would be hard for me to describe all that I have learned about photography in the last 7 years. I have been on numerous photo shoots with several other members and learned so much about time lapse photography, composition, how to set up my camera, etc. I would like to acknowledge the 3 members who I consider my mentors over the years. Steve Ganger, Jeannie Grosch, and Phil Hemmelgarn have taught me so much. Jeannie Grosch and I had the same model camera for several years and shared our learning experience by giving each other tests, via email, from similar books about the Canon 40D. The fellowship and learning experience from belonging to the club is immeasurable. The informal monthly competition and the quarterly themes give a person something to shoot for - a reason to put the camera in the car and take off.”
“I joined the photo club after purchasing my first camera in April 2006. I knew nothing about photography. Absolutely nothing. The speakers are very informative. I went on photo shoots with other members who patiently answered all my questions. I entered the quarterly and monthly competitions using them as a learning tool. I was shocked when I won not only the Rookie Photographer of the year but also the Outstanding Photographer of the year awards for 2006. Since then I have won numerous Best Of Show awards at various shows. I never could have obtained these honors if it were not for the Photo Club and the members who happily share their knowledge with anyone.”
I like the photography group because there is a lot of combined knowledge of photography within the group . Everyone in the group is so willing to share with you. I learn something more each time I go and even when I don't go I still can ask questions of the group. Very fun and informative, sharing group!!
